[ The feed starts off shaky and wonky and upside down, but it pays witness to a Scizor smashing in the face of a familiar Miltank with one of his pincers. Whitney's scream of outrage and near bloody murder drowns out the poor Miltank's whimper as it sags to the ground, knocked out with a single hit. The camera rights itself and purposefully zooms in on Whitney's red face - it looks like she's been sobbing for quite a while now. She points an accusing finger at her challenger. ]

I can't believe you! You're evil! Evil fraternal twins bullying me with overpowered Pokemon!

I'm sorry. I know things have been busy with those fossils running around, but as it seems to be over and we've been holding off for a while--

Waaaaaaaaaaaahhh!

Will you stop it?

[The camera turns to the other person in the Gym. Ilya stamps her foot and looks quite firmly irritated. Outraged, in fact.]

What kind of conduct is this? You call yourself a lady? You're a disgrace!

Illya, we don't need to aggravate her any further--

Meanies! Evil, the both of you! Here! Take your stupid badge!

[ Despite the huge display of shaking and crying Whitney is showing, she manages to chuck the tiny badge over Xion's Scizor and smack the thing squarely against Xion's forehead. She continues to cry, but this act prompts a roar from the holder of the Gear (which sounds much like a Hydreigon's roar) and her Scizor's wings to furiously flutter. ]

Ow!

Xion! Are you hurt?

[Ilya reaches up to check on Xion's forehead, and after a couple moments of satisfying herself that she's not bleeding from one of the pointy ends, turns back to Whitney.]

How dare you! I have a mind to... to...

[She seems to fail at figuring out what exactly she intends to do to Whitney, just standing there with her fists clenched and her eyes narrowed. At her side, a looming Dusclops glares with its one red eye.]

It's fine, Illya! It's nothing. [ As she says this, she's pulling on her hood to hide the little mark while bending down to pick up her badge. ] Let's go... Wait. Tiamat? Wait!

[ The feed is suddenly flying towards and behind Whitney. There's a Hydreigon head seen before it opens a mouth and bites down on poor girl's butt.

The shriek is almost ear shattering. ]

Eeeeeek! Owowowowowow! [ She swats angrily at the Hydreigon, who flies high up and stares down with the Gear. Then she gasps, looking back up at Tiamat then at Xion. ] It's you! You again?! You're the trainer whose Deino bit me in the butt!

I apologized!

[Ilya is desperately trying to reign in her laughter, but it's not... really working all that well. Meanwhile, her Dusclops is opening its mouth...

Oops, there's a second ear piercing scream.]

Ow ow ow! Orpheus, that was not a challenge to a screaming competition!

Illya, let's just go! We might get arrested at this rate!

[ Tug, tug. Everyone's just screaming and crying and yelling... while Tiamat just laughs her dark Hydreigon laugh above. ]

But I still don't have my badge...

[She does, however, reluctantly allow herself to get pulled away.]

Orpheus! Hepheastus! Come!

[With a roar and a groan, the Aggron and the Dusclops obediently begin following their trainer away from the increasingly frantic gym leader.]

Tiamat! --And please stop recording!

[ Xion realizes belatedly. At the call, Tiamat swoops over while obeying orders and cutting the feed after that. ]

[ Audio that happens half an our later: ]

Whitney's still the same. [ No kidding. Beat. ] If anyone plans to challenge her sometime soon, um... please be careful.

[ And then another audio message filtered to Minato and the Ninja Team: ]

I hope you guys have been okay from the fossil Pokemon attack. I think I'm going to travel with Illya for a bit. She wanted to visit Ecruteak for some information. If you guys need help, though, we could both travel back to you guys whenever we can.

And... sorry I've been quiet. A lot of things have been happening. Stay safe.

[ ooc: Badges approved for both! Whitney and Illya. ]

Indeed we do. Our airship fleet, the Red Wings, is the pride of the Kingdom of Baron. I even used to be their captain, decades ago.

Used to be? You don't look old enough to have retired. So why did you quit?

[Because that sounds like a pretty sweet job, not gonna lie.]

I was promoted to the wondrous world of politics and administration.

[It was. He still kinda misses the parts of it that don't involve attacking towns.]

Oh, of course. They made you king. I've heard that story before.

[personal profile] paladinlost 2013-08-26 12:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Is it that common a reward? In my case the previous king had no other heir, which did help matters slightly...
dressofheaven: (It's cute... squish it Berserker)

[personal profile] dressofheaven 2013-08-26 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, it's common in fairy tales. Not so much in real life, but some of the stories are based on true events. After all, who doesn't want to follow a hero?
paladinlost: (thoughtful)

[personal profile] paladinlost 2013-08-27 04:03 pm (UTC)(link)
That would depend on whether or not the hero has the qualities necessary to rule rather than his heroism, ideally.
dressofheaven: (Now let me see...)

[personal profile] dressofheaven 2013-08-28 03:34 am (UTC)(link)
Humans aren't always that logical. The glory is enough for most of them to want to follow.
paladinlost: (sighing)

[personal profile] paladinlost 2013-08-28 04:18 pm (UTC)(link)
That's somewhat alarming. Luckily, Rosa and I know what we are doing.

Well, that's lucky for your country. You sound like you'd make a good Heroic Spirit in my world, Sir...

... Oh, we never introduced ourselves, did we? I'm Ilya. Ilyasviel von Einzbern.
paladinlost: (happy)

[personal profile] paladinlost 2013-09-01 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
Heroic Spirit, you say?

[Heroic and spirit he both gets, but heroic Spirit...]

My name is Cecil Harvey. It's a pleasure to meet you, Ilya.
dressofheaven: (Happy Ilya in snow)

[personal profile] dressofheaven 2013-09-01 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
Mmm-hmm! It's exactly what it sounds like, Sir Harvey! The spirit of a hero brought into the world.

... Which I guess is basically just saying you sound like a hero, but I have more experience with the spirit versions.
paladinlost: (err)

[personal profile] paladinlost 2013-09-01 09:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Is there truly such a large difference between regular heroes and their spirits? Other than their lack of a pulse, I imagine.
dressofheaven: (It's cute... squish it Berserker)

[personal profile] dressofheaven 2013-09-03 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
Circumstances, mostly. And actually, they do have pulses, at least in the case of the spell we use. It gives them bodies for the duration of their stay in the modern world.
paladinlost: (thoughtful)

[personal profile] paladinlost 2013-09-03 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
That's a very impressive spell. Nothing I know or have heard of could materialize a soul, in my world.
dressofheaven: (Not planning anything)

[personal profile] dressofheaven 2013-09-06 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, technically it's not a complete materialization. The world's still fighting against their presence because of how many laws of nature they violate. But with the Holy Grail's power we can allow them to affect the physical realm, at least.
paladinlost: (curious)

[personal profile] paladinlost 2013-09-07 06:04 pm (UTC)(link)
The world fights against their very existence? That cannot possibly be a comfortable or pleasant experience.
dressofheaven: (Look at the pretty snow)

[personal profile] dressofheaven 2013-09-07 10:25 pm (UTC)(link)
It's actually the summoner, or "Master" who takes on most of that particular burden, since they're the one holding the spirit there. But you're right. It's very unpleasant.
paladinlost: (err)

[personal profile] paladinlost 2013-09-08 07:10 pm (UTC)(link)
My world's summoners do not have that issue, but then again the creatures they summon merely live in a different land. I assume that makes all the difference.
