--ah! I still know how to turn it on!

[ Pop goes the feed, and the face of a young girl with short black hair and blue eyes appears on the screen. There's a Skarmory also peering down at the screen with wonder and squawks at what Xion's doing with the PokeGear. ]

I, uh... [ Oh, now that she's gotten it back on, she... really didn't think about what she should say. Instead, she gives a brief wave with a shy smile before that hand goes to rub at her neck in slight embarrassment. She recovers quickly, though, after her new steely companion bumps her beak against Xion's cheek. ]

It's been a long time, it seems. At least I think it should be for here. It didn't even feel like I was gone, and yet... I remember this time.

It's good to be back.

[Silly Xion. He's cool. In fact, now that his shock's worn off, he'll go ahead and return the smile...

At least until a certain dragon comes barging in, knocking Riku to the side because he knows that voice!

Hi, trainer. Bahamut's shoving his nose in the camera.]

[ The change in audience makes her blink and look on in worry after Riku, but she knows Riku's a tough guy. Then again, Bahamut is a 7' tall Garchomp, so there's a cause to worry anyway.

Still, she can't help but laugh at Bahamut's enthusiasm and wave at the camera. ]

You look like you're doing more than okay, Bahamut. Still, it's not nice to knock down Riku like that.

[ She thought she taught you better than this, Bahamut! ]

[Aww. But he was just so excited! Thankfully, Riku seems to be all right, as evidenced by the way he pushes himself back on his feet and reaches down for the Gear. At least Bahamut's being polite enough to give him space.

Hey, if you think that's bad, you should see what happens when Burst tackles me. I'll be fine.

I should. You need to be looked out for sometimes, Riku.

[ Which, okay, might be something coming from Xion. But it's Riku and she worries anyway. That said-- ]

Did most of my team go to you?

Yeah, yeah. But I've made it this long, haven't I?

[He chuckles, straightening his back. There, that's much better.]

Anyway, I got almost all of them. I'm just missing Thundaga, your Excadrill, and maybe one or two others. I'd have to double check; this place is so packed these days that it's hard to keep track sometimes.

That must mean your Training Center has been going well since then, right?

It's going all right. To tell you the truth, I've been trying to find other things to do on top of running the place.

[He sighs. Sometimes he just gets so stir crazy. All the adventuring in the world hasn't fixed that, either.]

Really? Like what?

[ You were so much calmer the last time she saw you in Sora's heart, Ree-coo. Cough. ]

I don't know. Been trying to improve my own strength a bit, but there's only so long you can train, period, before it just gets stale. And I've seen almost every inch of this place, so it's hard to find anything else that's new.

[Really, he wonders how Sora gets by. It's a much bigger world than his home, but there has to be more ~~than this provincial life~~.]

Hmm. Is the Breeding Center business still around? Have you tried helping them?

I'd also suggest trying out something that doesn't involve strengthening or training. Doing too much of one thing is probably why it gets... boring from time to time.

With what, though? I'm not even sure what they'd need, and I tend to sell all my eggs independently.

[He shrugs.]

And it's not like I'm always training. I've tried traveling around, too. It's just that nothing really sticks out to me. Nothing's exciting these days.

Just... helping out? I think the last time I was here, they were understaffed. You probably wouldn't need to sell your eggs through them, but still.

Did you, at least, try out the things that you passed by?

I guess it's an option. It'd just be nice to have a change of scenery every now and then.

[Celadon's essentially his home, but it and Goldenrod do get stale after a while.]

And sure, I try things when I can. There's just nothing really groundbreaking.

[There's concerts, sports shows, the Kimono girls, all that's good. It's entertaining, but he's just an observer. There aren't near as many things to actively participate in outside of battles, breeding, and the like.]

[ It's at the moment when Riku says "it's an option" does Xion start to shake her head. She listens to the rest of his words, and it confirms in her head what she has to say. ]

You should try them out. Try them all out. Think of them as options to do, really. Sometimes, you really don't get a chance to try things you'd want to try.

[ The last one is said on a bit of a somber note. ]

Then again, it has been longer for you here... Hmm.

It just feels like this place is limited sometimes. I care about my team, and I've enjoyed training them, but sometimes the way everything revolves around Pokémon gets old. Makes me start missing things like school, and that's saying a lot.

[Because the only schools he's even seen relate to training, anyway.]

[ Pause. ] Do you think there could be enough people to hold that? A school, I mean.

Probably. The thing is, the locals seem more content to let their kids run around on their own.

[He shrugs.]

I can get by without it. There's stuff like arcades, sightseeing, and movies... I just feel to comfortable, I guess. Too complacent, if that makes sense.

[ There's a long, thoughtful pause on her end. The problem runs a bit deeper than expected. Then again, maybe it's not so... complicated.

So she tries a shot. ]

Maybe you're getting lazy, Riku.

[ Slight teasing voice? No sir. ]

Lazy? Please. If I was lazy, I wouldn't work my butt off training myself.

[Among other things. He'd just lay about whining for hours about how bored he is. He's definitely bored, but at least he's trying.]

Yet that still doesn't seem to be enough for you.

[ A casual observation. At this point, he kind of seems to be going in circles. ]

Well, it's just nothing new.

[He sighs and shakes his head.]

But don't worry about it. I'll figure it out. Besides, it's just good to see you around again.

And you, Riku. Once I get to Cherrygrove, is it okay to take my team back? I mean, if it's okay with you and them. You must have taken care of them well while I was away.
