I hope this is clear enough: to people who know about him, don't harass Xemnas. We know what he's done, and while we know what he's like, it's a bit different here. Threatening him isn't going to help matters. We can keep watch until he actually does something, but don't aggravate him too much.

If anything, I'll try to handle him.

And to the person who sent him that threatening message: stop it. You're not helping.

He's worried. Probably scared out of his wits from the sounds of things. People do crazy things when they're scared.

[She would know. After a beat, however, a second text follows the first.]

Xion. What kind of threat is Xemnas? What kind of damage is he capable of?

That's not the point of this, Lightning. He's not a threat right now if people would stop bothering him about it.

[ Granted, she probably didn't word this to try and avoid this implication, but at this point, her mind is just running a bit too wildly to think coherently. ]

That's not what I'm saying. I know he's not an active threat, and he probably won't be, but if even one person is that worried? You know someone has to look into it.

Even potential threats have to be checked out. The more we learn now, the better prepared we'll be even if he never does anything. It's just standard procedure.

[Military procedure. It isn't anything personal and Lightning does know not to poke a sleeping behemoth, but still.]

He's... He's basically what Demyx told you. He's smart and he's willing to bide his time. Maybe having an actual heart will change that, but I'm not sure.

If he does something, I'll handle it.

[And that's a confirmation. Well, great. This is a mess. Now they've got a potential threat running loose and the reckless cannon defending him. Why is she getting a bad feeling--oh. That would be why! So much for less reckless.]

Not alone you won't. You'll work with your squad if it comes to a fight against him. Got it?

Squad? I'm still a part of the PGC?

[A momentary delay. Oh. She...did forget to mention that, huh?]

Since you got back. Squad 2, with Sora and Riku.

But if you want out, you can leave. I'm not forcing you to stay with us.

It's not that. I wouldn't mind working with them, but I also wouldn't want them to be dragged down with me if trouble starts.

[ They might be dragged anyway due to their similar interests. And woop, there goes another extra layer, Lightning. ]

Actually, I'm surprised none of them did an announcement like this. At least, Sora didn't. I'm not sure what Sora remembers, but I know Xemnas would be interested in him.

Is it getting dragged if they choose to support you?

[We're friends, right? Or how had Ven put it? She can't remember, now that he's been gone so long. She was going to try and say something along those likes anyway, but then the added encryption goes up and she frowns. Interested? Etro, now what?!]

How interested?

Very. He wanted something from Sora. Now that we're in Johto, he's not going to get it.

[ And the fact that Xion knows that might imply she has something to do with that... ]

Is that going to stop him from trying?

[Because if Sora's in danger, he has to be warned. End of story--Lightning will deal with the implications of Xion knowing once she's sure Sora's clear.]

I think so. Unless our powers somehow come back, I don't see him chasing after something that's not even there. And I know Sora's protected enough with Riku beside him. It still wouldn't hurt.

Warn him. Sora may not know Xemnas is here and he needs to know anyway.

[And knowing is half the battle. But that makes her pause, and a moment later, a second text comes.]

You used to work with Xemnas, didn't you?

I think he knows. Xemnas announced himself so... elaborately, I doubt Sora would miss it.

[ Pause... ]

[Well then. That's...certainly something. To herself, Lightning sighs. Frowns. Shakes her head and picks her gear back up. Past is past, deal with the now.]

And now? Are you in danger because he's here?

I don't know. I don't think so. He seemed more interested in getting to understand me better.

[ Which may or may not be a good thing, all things considered. ]

If that changes or you get a bad feeling, get out. Learning about your enemy is one of the first things anyone does when planning an attack. Don't take any chances with him.

I got that much, Lightning. He knows what I am. Even so...

[ Remember that bit from Fang about how she likes to stick her nose into things, Lightning? It's especially easier for her to when it involves personal matters. ]

I have to check on him. I want to see what he's like, but I'll be careful.

[What she is? Huh. Fang never did tell Lightning what became of that conversation, but after that and what Demyx and Xion have said...she can put the pieces together. Not that it matters here. Not really.]

Be sure that you are. We're all over the place, so getting you back-up if you need it could take too long.

I won't. In the meantime... I guess try to keep Demyx from doing too much? It sounds like he's getting scared.

You probably know him better than I do. Is he the type to act on that fear and be stupid, or is he going to go to ground and hide his head in the sand?

[One threat or two? Etro, if she's got to go flip somebody off a ledge with Vanille's birthday tomorrow...it won't be pretty.]

Uh... both? The thing about him is that Demyx mostly sat around playing with his sitar. His mission reports were always simple. He preferred to let other people handle his work.

So he's lazy, he talks a lot, and it sounds like he's trying to be a hero by warning people about Xemnas. Great.

[She knows the type. They don't meet happy endings.]

If he says anything to you about making a move, or you think he's going to, call me. I'll see if I can get someone to head him off.

[ If Xion doesn't try to deal with him herself if it comes to that... ]

There's also another matter of where he is. I don't know, but he makes it seem like I do. Or that you do.

[Yes, well, Lightning would appreciate a heads-up regardless. At least so she knows how much rope to bring.]

I don't. Didn't get a location out of him when we talked.

[Should have, really, but...what's done is done and Xion should get the point. Somebody's gone paranoid on them already.]
